February 14 is the feast of Valentine's Day , which is named after St. Valentine in Terni, patron of lovers. It was established in 496 A.D. by Pope Gelasius I in place of the pagan of "Lupercalia", but draws its deepest meaning in time to coincide with the first awakening of nature.
This sweet tradition with the excitement of being in love was exported by the Benedictines in sec. X A.D. and it has permeated itself with local practice. So much so that in some Nordic countries have adopted the custom of the exchange of valentine that the notes of love.
