The Monterozzi Necropolis in Tarquinia, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2004, is an archaeological site of considerable historical interest, as it is made up of numerous Etruscan mound tombs. The original paintings of the VII - II century are still preserved in the funerary rooms. A. C., sealed with glass doors and periodically controlled by restorers. The wall paintings represent the interior of the ancient Etruscan houses and some convivial scenes of magical-religious character. The most famous are in the "Warrior" and "Hunting and Fishing" tombs (so named for the object of pictorial representations).
TOMBE ETRUSCHE
On the ancient tombs
Trumpets play jazz,
Singing the divine music.
For this, little has changed:
To employ modern modes
To enjoy the usual passions.
How the waves follow
And together form the sea,
So human generations.
As they pass similarly to each other,
Make the image earthy
Of the unknown infinite exploration.
