Although the first comparison ever took place in Rome at the end of the eighteenth century by the two artists: Canova who moved from Venice (1781) while Thorvaldsen from Copenhagen (1797). In those years the two challenged each other with chisel strokes producing sculptures on the same motifs and subjects to show off their mutual ability.
With sculpture they represented the themes of life and death, beauty and love, elevating art to the point of being considered the fathers of modern sculpture.
The possibility of gathering the most famous statues made it possible to recreate the cultural context of the time.
The exhibition will be open until March 15, 2020, from Tuesday to Sunday from 9:30 to 19:30.
Poetry - Love
Love is the meeting of two lives that pushes to the most sincere actions in response to questions already gone. It is the choice to do and please. On the way, face the climbs and carefully crosses the storms amid laughter and amused requests, like a sealed courier envelope. That secret of infinite joys it will repay waiting with knowledge filling the shortcomings already suffered. However divine, the counselor, leave everyone free at the exits: if, in the choice, to love or want. Umberto F. M. Cefalà
